“I been going to South Side Animal Hospital for more than 20 years and the staff there are always wonderful. My little dog loves to visit. I trust them completely to care for my furkids.”

A Legacy of Compassionate Care

Veterinary medicine runs deep in our family. While cleaning out her grandmother’s home, Dr. Heather Steele discovered something special: a 1963 spay certificate from South Side Animal Hospital issued to her grandfather, Stan Steele. Four generations of the Steele family have trusted this clinic with their pets and one of the city’s longest-standing veterinary practices.

Many of our clients share similar stories. Families who brought their childhood pets here now bring their own children and grandchildren through our doors. That kind of trust is something we never take for granted.

what makes us different?

South Side Animal Hospital is one of the few AAHA-Accredited Clinics in Edmonton. The American Animal Hospital Association sets the highest standards for veterinary care in North America. Less than 15% of animal hospitals earn this accreditation. We voluntarily undergo rigorous evaluation every three years because your pet deserves nothing less than excellence.

70+ Years in Edmonton

We opened our doors in 1952 as one of Edmonton’s first small animal practices. We are still here, still family-owned, and still committed to treating every pet like family.

AAHA-Accredited Clinic

AAHA accreditation is voluntary. We choose to undergo rigorous evaluation every three years because we believe your pet deserves the best possible care. Fewer than 15% of clinics do this.
